DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT DESTINATION

IMPORT REGULATION OF USED HOUSEHOLD GOODS INTO PERU
CUSTOMER’S STATUS REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR EACH STATUS DOCS AND INFO FOR ALL STATUS
Foreigners with work contract.
  • Photocopy of Working Contract issued by the local employer and stamped by Peruvian Labour Ministry (not necessarily approved) or Resident visa.
  • Inventory must be in detail and contain brand name and serial numbers of electrical items. Inventory will be translated into Spanish.
  • No "packed by owner" (PBO) items.
  • Original passport of owner which has the last entry stamp into Peru.
  • The goods must arrive in Peru one (1) month before or 6 months after owner’s last entry into Peru.
  • The goods must be "used household goods and personal effects".
  • Consignee on BL/AWB must be owner’s full name as in passport c/o Security International Moving S.A..C. Av Los Castillos 309 – Ate 3 – PERU Att: Operations Dept.
  • Two Original Bill of Lading.
  • Legalized Power of Attorney (form will be provided by SIM at destination).
  • All shipments go through physical inspection, except diplomatic shipments.
Foreign and Returning Peruvian Diplomats.
  • Diplomatic import permit /franchise from Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Ministry Affairs.
  • Shipment of returning Peruvian diplomats will be subject to physical inspection by Peruvian Customs Authorities. Shipment duty free, if value does not exceed amount authorized by Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Returning Peruvian Citizens.
  • Household goods previously exported from Peru may be imported duty-free with supporting documents (OBL/AWB, Export Declaration Form (DUA) and packing list), stamped by Peruvian Customs.
  • Passport must contain all entry and departure stamps to Peru in last 13 months, with a maximum stay of 30 calendar days within this length of time.
  • ID (DNI) must be updated.

Customs clearance takes 3-6 working days, if all documentation is completed and given to SIM.

RESTRICTED ITEMS IMPORT REGULATION INTO PERU
ARTÍCULOS DOCUMENTOS REQUERIDOS DOCS AND INFO FOR ALL STATUS
Telecommunication equipments (radios, facsimile & telephone).
  • One unit allowed.
  • Additional items require permission Attaching original invoice of each item.
  • Original passport of owner which has the last entry stamp into Peru.

Firearms and ammunitions.
  • Special permission/license PRIOR to arrival of the goods into Peru, obtained from the Ministry of Interior.
  • Proof of ownership.
  • No Automatic arms are allowed.
  • Subject to confiscation if requirements are not met.
Food
  • Allowed in small quantities.
  • In air shipments must not exceed 10% of total net weight.
Refrigirating device (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, etc).
  • Original manufacturer’s Certificate stating the coolant used, issued in letterhead and signed by manufacturer (not dealer or store).
  • Technical specification manual.
  • For each refrigerating device.
  • If 2. is not available, clear pictures of the 4 sides of the appliance, specially where the label shows specifications and kind of gas.
  • Permission must be submitted to OTO-Peru office – cost US$75.00 flat.
  • Permissin takes about 7 working days after submitting complete documents.
  • Approved permission must be provided before arrival of goods into Peru.
  • Subjet to confiscation, if requirements are not met.
  • Storage and additional charges will be applied.

VEHICLES / MOTORCYCLES IMPORT REGULATION INTO PERU
CUSTOMER’S STATUS REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR EACH STATUS DOCS AND INFO FOR ALL STATUS
Foreigners with work contract.
  • Original passport of owner with last entry stamp to Peru.
  • Two Original Bill of Lading showing model, year, engine number, VIN.
  • Legalized Power of Attorney (form will be provided by SIM at destination).
  • All shipments go through physical inspection, except diplomatic shipments.
  • Original Commercial Invoice fully detailed, it will be kept by the Peruvian Customs Office.
  • Title & Proof of ownership.
  • Insurance certificate or letter for not insuring.
  • Customs form (DUA) must be signed by the shipper and provided by SIM.
  • Tax ID number (RUC) of consignee will be required for importing vehicles. Important document that must be provided by the consignee.
  • Used vehicles/motorcycles can not exceed five years of being manufactured (Year 2005 – Year 2009). Allowed gasoline and/or natural vehicle gas (GNV).
  • Allowed diesel compresion ignition engine for vehicles not older than two years of being manufactured (Year 2008 – Year 2009). Categories: L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, M1,M2, N1 & N2 are PROHIBITED to import into Peru.
  • New vehicle: 9% ad valoren + 19% Sales Peruvian Taxes + 10% of Perception CIF value.
  • Used vehicle: 9% ad valorem + 30% “Selectivo” + 19% Sales Peruvian Taxes + 10% of Perception CIF value.
  • Perception tax 5% - new and used vehicle.
  • Customs Fee US$29.00 – new and used vehicle.
  • Technical inspection for specifications & supervision – US$300.00 flat (authorized co. will provide this service in customs warehouse. They will issue a certificate & photos.
  • Allowed maximum 80,000 km registered.
  • Depending on cc of vehicle, the Registration customs code 8703220020 (gas/gasoline) & 8703220010 (diesel).
Foreign and Returning Peruvian Diplomats.
  • Diplomatic import permit /franchise from Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Ministry Affairs.
  • Shipment of returning Peruvian diplomats will be subject to physical inspection by Peruvian Customs Authorities. Shipment duty free, if value does not exceed amount authorized by Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Allowed one car duty free. Only vehicles owned by diplomats will be duty free
  • Franchise will be granted to: Foreign representatives of International organizations. Members of foreign armed forces working on official missions. Diplomats and embassy officers. Returning Peruvian diplomats after having completed mission abroad.
  • Consignee on BL/AWB must be owner’s full name as in passport c/o Security International Moving S.A.C. Av. Los Castillos 309 – Lima 3 – PERU. Att: Operations Dept.
  • Before releasing the vehicle all description, year, chasis #, motor #, cc, km/miles must be provided.

Returning Peruvian Citizens.

Customs clearance takes 3-6 working days, if all documentation is completed and given to SIM PLEASE DO NOT RELEASE THE VEHICLE UNTIL WE HAVE GIVEN YOU THE GREEN LIGHT on the documentation of the car. We want to avoid problems and re-shipment of the goods for not fulfilling with import documentation.

Taxes and rights - import regulation of domestic property used in peru
CUSTOMER’S STATUS REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR EACH STATUS TAX APPLICABLE TO EACH CATEGORY
Foreigners with work contract.
  • Photocopy of Working Contract issued by the local employer and stamped by Peruvian Labour Ministry (not necessarily approved) or Resident visa.
  • All shipment go through physical inspection, except diplomatic.
  • 14% CIF value applied if foreign or Peruvian citizen, proofs stay abroad 13 consecutive months with a stay in the country at the most 30 calendar days.
  • If exceeds – 30% CIF value is applied.
  • Peruvian citizens may import under “Inmigration Encouragment law” – March 3, 2005. Allows to import duty free used household goods and vehicle (not exceeding US$30,000.00 each). Must proof desire of developing a business in Peru. Required documents: Inmigration Record, Residence certificate issued at the origin Peruvian consulate, indicating decision of staying in Peru at least five (5) consecutive years, copy of Professional Certificate, value of equipments that will be used in business and a Business Project. SUNAT in Peru must approve the request. Paperwork takes about 30 calendar days to be issued by SUNAT. Shipment must not be released to Peru until having information from SUNAT. The consignee must not have used this benefit in the last two (2) years, according to othe date of the Import Declaration form.

Returning Peruvian Citizens.
